Game fees
Traditionally, most jubensha games have a dedicated host who explains the rules, makes sure players don’t get stuck, and role plays as characters throughout the game. Hosted games will be £25-30 per person.
We’ll also have “host-lite” games costing £15 per person, and one unhosted game that will be free to play.
Talks and workshops
We’ll have talks about the design, production, and business of making jubensha from UK and international creators. We’ll also have talks from people from jubensha-adjacent fields like larp and escape rooms.
Talks will be 10-20 minutes long, excluding Q&As. Some will be presented in person, and others will be pre-recorded or via video call. We hope to make talks available online afterwards, but we can’t guarantee it.
Workshops will include industry-only playtests for aspiring jubensha designers looking for publishers, and a live jubensha demo with special guests.
If you’d like to give a talk, email contact@jubenshacon.com.

Arlo Howard (they/them) is an international award winning, non-binary creator working at the intersection of theatre and games. Arlo has worked with clients such as Lenovo Meta, Amazon, Google, and Dropout. They recently worked on “The Burnt City” with Punchdrunk and are the director/creator of Immy Award winning “The Order of the Golden Scribe”..
Chronic Insanity is a Nottingham based immersive and interactive theatre company that creates and facilitates live events in a variety of traditional, found, and digital spaces. They make work accessibly, affordably, sustainably, and inclusively, seeking to change the definition of what theatre can be by playing with form, genre, medium, and technology. They can often be found running the UK’s first dedicated digital theatre literary department, staging at least 12 shows every 12 months, and being one of the first companies to bring multiple Jubensha to the UK.

Suspense Studio (KMS Games) is a Singapore-based creator of original English Jubensha games (剧本杀, literally “script murder”). Pick your characters, read your scripts, uncover hidden secrets, and navigate a web of lies in our murder mystery social deduction games designed for a global audience. Featured in People Make Games and the Financial Times, Suspense Studio brings the thrill of East Asia’s popular ‘Jubensha’ to players everywhere!

David Middleton is a UK-based immersive game designer, founder of Bewilder Box, a science-fiction themed escape room venue known for its humour and innovative puzzle design, organiser of ERIC, the escape room industry conference, and founder of games design studio Rebel Brain. He once built a toilet-themed escape room called The T.U.R.D.I.S. and took it to Glastonbury Festival. With over 70 gamified projects across tabletop, escape rooms, and large-scale immersive events, he has worked with brands and IPs including Disney, Peaky Blinders, Horrible Histories, The Paddington Bear Experience, and Roald Dahl’s The Witches. More recently, through Jubensha Adventures, he has been developing original English-language Jubensha, drawn to a format that brings people together and gives him the chance to make all sorts of weird and wonderful characters and worlds.
